The Monte-Carlo simulation technique described in MacGillivray et al. (1981b) is used to simulate orientations and shapes for galaxies in clusters according to five different schemes for true three-dimensional galaxy orientation. The projected galaxy geometric parameters are found to depend upon the type of alignment scheme present, the inclination of the parent cluster, and the parent cluster shape. These results indicate that the presence and type of alignments in clusters, even if direct detection is not possible, can be deduced from analysis of the observed geometric properties of the member galaxies.
