Some results of the spectral observations of the four V1057 Cyg made after its brightening are described. The observations, made with the Chalonge spectrograph attached at the Cassegrain focus of the 193-cm reflector, are listed. The line spectrum of the star is discussed, and from the analysis of the continuum using low dispersion spectrograms, evidence is found in favor of the existence of an absorbing shell around the star. Microphotometric tracings of a known shell star are compared with those for V1057 Cyg to support the contention. The inner shell is taken to represent the photosphere of the star, while the outer shell is considered to be an absorbing one. From the BCD classification of the star, the H and K lines of Ca II and the large number of the metallic lines are attributed to the shell, while the Mg II and Si II lines belong to the star. A comparison of the results with those for FU Ori are made, and implications of the results are discussed.
