Image Dissector Scanner (IDS) observations obtained at the ESO 3.6 m
telescope, and uvby colors are reported for a variety of white dwarfs of
spectral types DB, DC, C2, and DA as well as some white dwarf
candidates. G 268-40 is shown to be the third C2 star with lines of
neutral carbon in the visible spectrum.
