Long slit image tube spectrograms of the southern dust lane galaxy NGC
1947 were obtained in order to study the kinematics of this
object. The dust lane shows fast rotation while the stellar component
does (nearly) not rotate. The system shows strong similarity to NGC
5128 (Cen A), however is not a radio galaxy.
