From 295 measurements in the Geneva seven-colour photometric system, it is found that the suspected variable star HR 4975 is in fact a close binary system. The colour variations and the very short period (0.64254 d) indicate a possible contact configuration. It is also argued that the two components are probably unequal in size and that the system is near to the ZAMS. Theoretical implications are briefly discussed.
