Cosmions and halons are distinct massive dark matter candidates which would exhibit similar properties if detected on earth. However, the rates of capture of solar neutrinos by Ga-71 predicted by solar modes with halons are about 10 percent higher than those predicted by the standard solar model. By contrast, the rates predicted by solar models with cosmions should be about 10 percent lower than those predicted by the reference standard solar model. In principle, the results of the Ga-71 solar neutrino experiments could therefore discriminate between the two candidates.
