A survey of the sky around M31 was undertaken to search for stars belonging to that galaxy. Faint blue objects detected were then observed spectroscopically at low resolution to ascertain whether they were indeed stars or background QSOs. While a number of QSOs and sub-luminous stars were detected, due to contamination by red objects at the plate limit, the only star found to be associated with M31 was a G-type supergiant.
