In late 2007 the CADC and the ST-ECF started designing and implementing a common envelope around the HST data dubbed the Cache, which now is operational in Canada as well as Europe. The goal was to have all HST science data readily available for the users with the best possible reprocessing and calibration methods applied. In an effort to keep manpower requirements and maintenance costs low, the Cache software was built upon a identical code-base and all infrastructure differences between the two sites were hidden. A number of data exchange mechanisms ensure a high degree of interoperability and redundancy between the archives. This paper aims to give an overview of the techniques employed.
