Radiative cooling and heat conduction along the magnetic field will
determine the thermal structure of the plasma in solar flares. In either
gradual, continuous heating or rapid, pulsed heating, temperature
distributions will be established such that one may always employ the
classical approximation of collisional heat conduction.
