The spectra of black-hole candidates and Seyfert galaxies in hard X-rays and soft gamma-rays are reviewed. The spectra of both classes of sources are well modeled by thermal Comptonization in plasmas with the temperature of order of 100 keV and the optical depth of about unity. There is also strong evidence for the presence of Compton reflection from a cold accretion disk. Constraints on and possible detections of pair annihilation features are discussed.
