Some properties of the shocks in the existing models for quasi two-dimensional astrophysical flows are discussed. All of these models which allow the study of shock analytically have some unphysical characteristics due to inherent assumptions made. A hybrid model is proposed for a thin flow which has fewer unpleasant features and is suitable for the study of shocks.
