Photographs of Mars, taken in September 1988 with a 106-cm reflector in France are examined. The pictures map about three-quarters of the Martian surface. The details and markings which can be seen in the photographs are discussed, including examples of noncyclic alterations. Example photographs are presented and compared with other photographs of Mars. Plans to produce composite pictures of Mars are noted.
