Polarimetric observations of Vesta carried out at three observatories during September to October, 1986 (seven nights) were used to obtain a curve for the variation of the degree of polarization with the rotation of Vesta around its axis. A clear reverse correlation was found for the polarization and brightness of the asteroid: the light curve minimum corresponds to the maximum absolute value of the degree of polarization and vice versa. The rotational period of the asteroid is determined to be 5.342 h.
