Scientific paper
The general equation for the path of a ray of light in a spherically
stratified medium is solved as an initial value problem by finite
difference approximations and iterative improvement. The solution is
used to estimate values of atmospheric refraction which are compared
with results obtained by Garfinkel's analytic solution.
