The impact of radio astronomy on the knowledge of energy release processes and magnetic fields in the solar atmosphere is reviewed. Solar radio astronomy takes advantage of a richness of spectral and morphological features containing information about all levels of the solar corona. The source of information, signatures of flare energy release, and radio methods of the estimation of magnetic fields are discussed.
