The novel atmosphere model presently constructed from the high-resolution EUV spectrum of the hot DA white dwarf Feige 24 proceeds by examining the possibility that the measured spectrum originates in a stratified atmosphere, where a thin hydrogen layer is in diffusive equilibrium over the He envelope. It is then supposed that many different metals could be present in low abundances; this is found to satisfactorily reproduce the observed EUV spectrum. The abundances required for spectrum-fitting are approximately consistent with the predictions of radiative element support.
