Optical spectra of 65 X-ray-selected AGN (XAGN) from several identification samples are presented and classified based on their spectra and optical-continuum luminosities. The 'red XAGN' of Stocke et al. (1983) appear to be a mix of previously known types of objects; their red colors appear to be caused by starlight. X-ray selection may be an efficient way to find narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies. A possible spectral discriminant between quasars and Seyfert 1 galaxies is pointed out.
