NGC 6500 is one of a small group of mildly active galaxies which show radio structure elongated both along and perpendicular to the galactic disk. New high-resolution MERLIN and VLA maps of this complex radio source are presented. The maps are consistent with a model in which radio emission is generated by the outflow of material along the galactic minor axis. This outflow is not comparable to the highly-collimated radio jets seen in some active galaxies, but is probably similar to the wind-driven bipolar outflow seen in M 82.
