A workshop devoted to discussions on how to preserve astronomy's rich heritage of photographic observations, most of which are on glass plates, was held at the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI) in November, 2007. PARI had previously been identified as a likely location for establishing a national plate archive. The Workshop was organized as a series of discussion sessions, each focused on an issue central to preserving the photographic material. The discussions resulted in recommendations, both to the astronomical community in general and to institutions holding astronomical plates, for ensuring preservation of these irreplaceable records.
