In the present comparative study of two digital data restoration methods, with a view to astronomical application, the results obtained for the same sets of spectroscopic data, both simulated and experimentally observed, are discussed. The first of the methods employs Fourier transforms in conjunction with a filtering process; the second works in the space domain and is based on the use of cubic splines. Comparable results are obtained by both methods, with good precision.
