Gravitational lensing provides a powerful probe of the dark matter distribution on a very wide range of mass-scales: Micro-lensing provides important constraints on the composition of the galactic halo on solar and sub-solar mass scales; Giant arcs allow one to weigh the cores of clusters; and weak lensing extends this to give constraints on the mass distribution on a range of scales from galaxy haloes through to supercluster scales. These observations can also yield constraints on the redshifts of very faint galaxies, and on the parameters of the cosmological world model. All of these applications have seen intense observational and theoretical activity in recent years. In this talk I will give a brief overview of these developments.
