We present the first results of a coordinated, Las Campanas / HST program to measure the extragalactic background light in passbands defined by the WFPC2 F300W, F550W, and F814W filters (3000-8000 Angstroms). This detection is the first successful measurement of the optical background light and constrains cosmological models as well as models of galaxy formation and evolution.
