Une équipe internationale d'astrophysiciens, regroupant des chercheurs français du CNRS et du CEA, a observé pour la première fois le rayonnement gamma de très hautes énergie en provenance du plus proche "noyau actif de galaxie radio-bruyant", au sein de la radiogalaxie Centaurus A. Le faible flux a été découvert par le système de télescopes H.E.S.S. en Namibie, actuellement l'un des instruments les plus performants dans ce domaine.
