Telescopes, Gamma Rays: Observations

Scientific paper

The design, construction and operation of the University of Durham Mark 6 ground-based γ-ray telescope is described. The telescope has been designed to have a high sensitivity to γ-rays in the <~100GeV region and to achieve good discrimination between γ-ray and hadron initiated showers at energies of >300GeV. The telescope was constructed in mid-1994 and a preliminary description of its operation is presented.
