Gamma-Rays: Observations, Quasars: Individual: 3C 273, 3C 279

A pixon-based reconstruction imaging method is applied to CGRO COMPTEL data for Viewing Period 3. The field-of-view of VP3 contains both the AGN sources 3C 273 and 3C 279 which are about 10° apart. The pixon technique is able to determine the fluxes and locations of a number of discrete sources within close proximity to each other. Fluxes and upper limits have been determined for both sources in the three standard energy ranges of 1-3, 3-10 and 10-30MeV. For 3C 273, these are (7.4+/-2.6), (6.3+/-2.7) and <=7.8 (2σ) 10^-7^ph/cm^2^/s/MeV, respectively. For 3C 279 the fluxes are <=4.5 (2σ), (2.1+/-2.4), and (8.3+/-4.0) 10^-7^ph/cm^2^/s/MeV, respectively. These results are compared with other analyses of VP3. The full COMPTEL data set from 1 to 30MeV was also separated into 19 energy intervals. For each energy interval a background set was produced from one of the sets for the standard energy ranges. Preliminary high resolution energy spectra are presented for 3C 273 and 3C 279 for VP3. When additional viewing periods are combined the spectral breaks characteristic of these two AGN sources should be more precisely defined.
