Since supernova remnants are potential sources of cosmic rays, determining the Galactic supernova remnant distribution has always been an important task. Gamma-ray astronomers have generally used the SNR distribution derived by Kodaira (1974PASJ...26..255K) to estimate the cosmic ray distribution. In this paper we discuss the SNR distribution in view of the expansion of the SNR catalog during the past decades. A new surface brightness-diameter relationship for shell SNRs is presented after recalculating distances using the new Sun-Galactic Center distance. We take into account the known selection effects, including the sensitivity limits of individual telescopes and the sky areas surveyed, to derive the SNR density distribution.
