We study the stability of stationary solutions for the system of secular equations that describe the evolution of a satellite orbit under the combined influence of a distant, disturbing, attracting point and an oblate central planet. In the coordinate system connected with the orbital plane of an external point, we derive analytical and graphical relations between the equilibrium orbital elements of the satellite and the stability conditions in the linear approximation. The results are compared with those of Kudielka (1997) and with numerical integration of the evolutionary system.
