We consider the relation between the soft X-ray and millimeter luminosities of solar flares by taking into account the shape of the radio spectrum. The relation log (L_x /L_r) = 15.5 0.5 that was derived by Benz and Guedel (1994) for the Sun and stars is shown to hold for events with radio spectral indices close to zero, which are most likely thermal. For such flares, we determine the ratio of the millimeter and soft X-ray emission measures. Selected events are used to illustrate the possibilities of diagnosing the flare plasma on the basis of its millimeter and X-ray emission.
