VERITAS, the Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System, is a proposed array of 8 imaging air Cerenkov telescopes operating in the 50 GeV to 10 TeV energy band. This next generation very high energy observatory will have the lowest energy threshold, highest angular resolution, and best sensitivity of any planned or proposed observatory. The individual telescopes which comprise the array are based on the proven Whipple 10m telescope. This talk will describe the array parameters, and the techniques which will be used to discriminate the gamma-ray induced events from the far more prolific hadron induced events.
