X-ray pulses from an accreting, rotating neutron star can be reprocessed into continuum and line emission by surrounding gas. The frequencies, pulse amplitudes, pulse profiles, and pulse phase origin relative to X-ray pulses can be used to probe the structure of a stellar wind, the temperature structure, kinematics, and shape of the accretion flow, and the mass of the neutron star. These techniques have been applied to time-resolved Hubble Space Telescope UV spectra of Hercules X-1 and Vela X-1. Hercules X-1 shows intermittent pulsations in the UV continuum associated with material moving near the neutron star's velocity. In Vela X-1, the wind-formed UV P Cygni lines of Si IV and N V pulsate as X-rays photoionize the stellar wind. New results on Hercules X-1, LMC X-4, and 4U 1627-67 should soon be forthcoming.
