Using spectral signatures possibly associated with quasi-periodic variations in red dwarfs, we investigate the dM3.5e star, Gliese 735, from simultaneous spectral observations during suspected 1.1 minute oscillations in the U-band photometry. Although the spectral signal/noise ratio is poor, there is tentative evidence that the emission fluxes in the CA II K line vary in accordance with the photometric U-band quasi-period. Signature variations are investigated at mean minimum, rising branch, maximum and falling branch of the light curve, using a phase summation (PS) technique. Apart from CaII K, our investigations include hydrogen gamma and hydrogen delta emission, a 'continuum' flux, FC at 4178 - 4192A, the Ca I (4227 A) absorption, the Cr/Fe/Ti absorptions (4249 - 4297 A), a strong Mn absorption (4025 - 4040 A, including He I 4030 A), and the flux at the Fraunhofer L 'absorption' (3810 - 3830 A). We also examine our signatures sequentially across an unresolved 2-second spike flare, but our spectroscopic time resolution was insufficient to detect it. However, it was found that the spike occurred during the maximum in our 1.1 -minute variation. Interpretation of quasi-periodicities as due to possible terrestrial atmospheric effects cannot yet be ruled out.
