On the evidence of some recent laboratory data on the association reaction H + OH + He yields H2O + He, and following previously proposed ion-neutral radiative association reaction schemes, it is suggested that the radiative association of H with OH can be a significant production mechanism for H2O in interstellar clouds, perhaps being a faster process for H2O production in some clouds than the ion-neutral reaction sequences. The H atom/radical radiative association process may be important in the production of other small molecules in interstellar clouds.
