The problem of obtaining a general solution of the variational equations describing the motion of a mass point under the action of a central force is examined, assuming that the force modulus is a function of the distance to the force center. From the results obtained, a solution for the case of motion in a Newtonian gravitational field derives (in a compact form), as a special case.
