MONS (Measuring Oscillations in Nearby Stars) is a proposed small satellite that would measure oscillations in about 25 nearby stars by monitoring the brightness and colour fluctuations in each star for about month. Secondary scientific goals are studying other types of variable stars (such as delta Scuti stars, roAp stars, eclipsing binaries), measuring rotation periods and measuring the power spectrum of stellar granulation. This workshop was held to discuss the scientific goals of the mission.
