Photoelectrically calibrated CTIO 4-m plates suggest that E3 is probably a very star-poor globular cluster that is reddened by E(B-V) of approximately 0.28. The cluster has an M(V) of -4.2, which makes it one of the faintest known globular clusters. The cluster has a core radius r(c) of 4.4 pc and a tidal radius r(t) of 26.4 pc. The ratio of r(t) to r(c) for E3 appears to be comparable to the smallest values of this parameter which are presently known. This indicates that E3 may have been severely truncated by tidal forces. Loss of stars resulting from tidal effects might be responsible for the present flow luminosity of E3.
