Observations of Io, Europa, Callisto, and Rhea were made in b (472 nm) and y (551 nm) from 1976 to 1979 and have been fitted by theoretical solar phase curves which take into account mutual shadowing of the surface particles of the satellites, surface roughness, and multiple scattering. The brightness of Io is intrinsically variable at the 2% level, and the average fluctuations of the other objects are consistent with a reported 0.4% increase of the solar constant between 1976 and 1979.
