Nongray model atmospheres and continuum surface flux distributions for hot white dwarfs have been calculated using seven different chemical compositions. These include typical DA, non-DA, HZ21, and HZ34 mixtures and (for comparison purposes) normal population I abundances. The results are used to obtain a better qualitative and intuitive understanding of the properties of hot white dwarf atmospheres and their dependence on chemical composition.
