Hydrogen and helium recombination lines have been observed at 15 and 22 GHz from 13 galactic H II regions. These data support earlier evidence for a decrease in the total helium abundance from 7 to 15 kpc galactic radius and an increase in the electron temperature of H II regions from 5 to 15 kpc. The present high angular resolution data show that the low values of the ionized helium abundance observed earlier for some H II regions are due to the presence of neutral helium in the H II regions. Inside 7 kpc this neutral fraction confuses the evaluation of the total helium abundances.
