An attempt is made to obtain a synthesis of the density gradients of metal-poor halo stars in right heliocentric directions lying close to a plane perpendicular to the galactic equator and containing the galactic center. For this purpose only the brightest stars in the range of 4.0 to 5.0 M(G) have been used. It is demonstrated how the number of stars per square degree depends on the galactic latitude and the apparent magnitude. Eight heliocentric density gradients are given which provide isodensity lines following a pattern which is concentric with the galactic center. This orientation is stressed by a transformation of the heliocentric density gradients into galactocentric ones, which are drawn for six arbitrarily chosen galactocentric latitudes B between 10 and 50 deg, depending on the assumed sun-galactic center. It is concluded that an extrapolation of the findings might lead to a concept of an ellipsoidal shell of maximum density concentric with the galactic center and with an axis of about 2:1.
