Scientific paper

The galaxies of the compact cluster Shakhbazian I have been studied by
photographic photometry. Contrary to earlier claims, they are ordinary
elliptical galaxies of average luminosity, and are not appreciably
compact. The dynamics of this possibly prototypical group is briefly
discussed.
