The thermalization length and diffusion length in an infinite one-dimensional medium filled with two-level atoms and moving differentially with a velocity-gradient constant of much less than unity are determined analytically for various absorption-coefficient profiles. The boundary-layer thickness in a semiinfinite medium with uniformly distributed primary sources is also estimated.
