Two aspects of the history of our Galaxy as derived from model calculations are presented. First, the scale length of the exponential surface-brightness distribution is increasing with time. If this is true generally for disk galaxies, it affects derivations of cosmological parameters. Second, the evolution of the enrichment in heavy elements and helium in the gas and young stars is described.
