The authors obtained 1 - 20 μm photometry on comet P/Arend-Rigaux on 1985 January 18 - 20 that showed a color temperature higher than that of a rapidly rotating blackbody in equilibrium with the solar isolation. No thermal emission from the coma was detected. The authors deduce that they have directly observed thermal emission from the nucleus of P/Arend-Rigaux, that its average radius is 4.8±0.4 km, and its geometric albedo at 1.25 μm is 5.4%±1%.
