The high-frequency limit of the Jovian decameter (DAM) emission, obtained by Voyagers 1 and 2, is compared with the frequency at the foot of the field lines which intersect Io orbit, to test the hypothesis of a Jovian DAM source along the Io flux tube (IFT). An IFT-associated emission in the northern hemisphere was distinguished from the dominant Io-B and Io-AA'C emission component. In the southern hemisphere, the Io-D and Io-C sources corresponded with the instantaneous IFT. No Io-related diffuse emission was detected from the southern hemisphere at frequencies greater than 15 MHz. The role of the Alfven waves in the Io-related emissions is discussed. A discussion of the magnetic field model in the southern hemisphere on the basis of the analysis of the emission cone is presented.
