In order to perform detailed dynamic simulation the FEM model must be reduced in order to decrease simulation calculation time while maintaining the essential mechanical characteristics. A mathematical approach has been exploited instead of a "trial and error" procedure, with springs and masses: a more accurate fitting to the FEM model is therefore available. This paper describes the integration of Nastran and Ansys finite element software capabilities within the Matlab - Simulink computational environment.
