Recently Roxburgh (1974) has attempted to explain the low neutrino luminosity of the sun by assuming the central regions of the sun are in rapid differential rotation. The idea is not new, it is in fact the basis of earlier calculations by Ulrich (1969), Bartenwerfer (1973), and Demarque, Mengel, and Sweigart (1973). The use of a spherically averaged rotation force is shown to lead to a gross underestimate of the minimum neutrino flux from differentially rotating solar models.
