The intensities of anomalous absorption bays at College are compared with the intensity of trapped electrons in the range of 50 to 150 keV on the ATS-1 satellite. In the majority of cases, absorption bays accompanied considerable electron intensity increases. Results obtained show that the dynamics of the auroral absorption region in the morning and afternoon magnetosphere is determined by the drift of a cloud of trapped electrons in which an instability occurs.
