The polarization of X radiation from an accretion disk in a binary X-ray source is investigated. Calculations are discussed which indicate that radiation from an accretion disk is linearly polarized as a result of Thomson scattering, that the hard X-ray electric vector lies in the orbital plane in the standard disk model, and the soft X-ray/UV electric vector is perpendicular to the orbital plane. Deviations from a standard disk are shown to lead to the following polarization effects: (1) in a disk with convective heat transport a situation may arise where the hard X-ray electric vector oscillates perpendicular to the orbital plane; (2) the plane of electric-vector oscillations may be rotated as frequency changes in a warped disk; and (3) the degree of linear polarization of emergent radiation will be about 3/4 of that expected for the standard model if there is a hot optically thick corona above the disk.
