Methods of searching for large-scale distributions of objects in the
universe are reviewed. Fundamental problems in the evaluation of
characteristic scales of the clustering of extragalactic objects are
discussed. Special attention is given to the hypothesis that these
clusterings can have all possible magnitudes.
