The radio source 0844 + 31 B = 4C 31.32 is very close to a 13 mag elliptical galaxy and a 18 mag quasar with a redshift of 1.8. To identify the source, a radio map made with the Westerbork radio telescope at 5 GHz was compared with an optical map obtained with the Palomar 48-inch Schmidt telescope. There appears to be a double radio source whose components are symmetrical on either side of the parent galaxy. The quasar appears to be unrelated to both the galaxy and the radio source.
